The Cure (1995)
The first movie I’m going to review is from 1995. It’s called The Cure. There are some spoilers in this review so stop now if you want. One thing you have to keep in mind is that this movie is from 1995, what little medical information in this movie is now very outdated. That being said the movie is about a friendship between two boys, one a loner (Erik) who has very little parental supervision and a boy (Dexter) with AIDS who has what one would probably describe as a helicopter mom. Erik and Dexter become friends and soon go on a mission to find a cure. Obviously their plan hits several bumps in the road and they end up going back home where Dexter ends up in the hospital. This movie didn’t make me cry because Dexter died. It made me cry because you see Erik mature in ways no 10 year old should have to.
