I Wish You All The Best (2024)
Okay, Tommy Dorfman, pop off. First of all I think the casting every step of the way was absolutely perfect. Obviously, Corey Fogelmanis was perfect as B(en), Miles Gutierrez-Riley was perfect as Nathan, Cole Sprouse I was extremely happy to see, I think he was perfect. Part of me wanted him to have a bigger part, part of me is happy he didn't, because I feel like it it allowed Corey, Miles and Alexandra to shine. And having a Sprouse brother I'm sure brought attention to the movie, but him having a small part didn't overshadow the important message in the movie.
I like how slow it started, it was perfect, showed the previous family dynamic, and how quickly some people let it fracture simply because they're afraid of something they don't understand. I love the sibling relationship that ends up being built, not only between B and Hannah but Thomas as well. I think B not finding himself until he was able to come out is something a lot of teens can relate to.
I love that B was able to find a place in his new school, with his new family, and his new friends. I think the way he experienced a lot of his "firsts" is the way a lot of lgbtqia+ experience life. They don't until they feel comfortable in their own skin.
Sorry this is a much shorter review than most, but I was thoroughly enjoying the movie and just watching, rather than taking notes. I may update this at some point if I rewatch it. It was an amazing coming of age story and I really hope Tommy continues to direct and create masterpieces.
